The Animal Phenotyping Platform (APP) is a comprehensive preclinical phenotyping platform that performs MRI, micro-CT, high frequency ultrasound imaging, photoacoustic imaging, and a variety of in vivo optical imaging techniques.
Join the Max Delbrück Center (MDC) in pioneering innovative biomedical research as a Scientist (m/f/d) within our Animal Phenotyping Platform. This role focuses on the cutting-edge implementation of a radiome-based foundational AI model into preclinical imaging studies. Your work will leverage AI to analyze CT and MRI data from mice, contributing to groundbreaking research with real-world implications for understanding and treating disease.

Job Description

  • implement a Foundation Model into the animal phenotyping platform, focusing on Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and fine-tuning with mouse image data
  • utilize AI and machine learning techniques to analyze high quality preclinical CT and MRI images
  • perform in vivo and ex vivo imaging studies, ensuring proper animal handling and anesthesia
  • collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams, including AI and imaging experts to advance the project
  • develop and apply advanced AI algorithms for image data processing, visualization and analysis
  • maintain a compliant and safe laboratory environment
  • effectively acquire, store, and manage imaging data
  • maintain detailed electronic records of experimental procedures
  • troubleshoot and manage imaging equipment and AI tools

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field with at least 2 years of postdoctoral research experience, or M.S. with at least 3 years of relevant research experience
  • strong background in AI, machine learning, and image data processing techniques
  • extensive experience with AI tools and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) is highly desirable
  • experience with MRI and/or CT imaging and AI applications in biomedical research
  • proficiency in small animal handling, including anesthesia and basic surgical procedures
  • excellent communication and writing skills to collaborate effectively with various research groups
