Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Hannover Re) is currently seeking talented candidates for a full-time Manager, Financial Reporting position, within the CSS – Financial Reporting & Corp Acc department. Responsible for managing the preparation and reporting of Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Bermuda)'s financial results including IFRS actual and forecast reporting packages to Group Accounting & Consolidation (GAC); and financial reporting to the Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) and related quarterly management reports; responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of treaty level accounting and related implementation of the Re7 system; coordinating the documentation and test work for PWC quarterly IFRS reviews and annual audit; responsible for new treaty review and supporting accounting memos.

 

Essential Functions:

 

(25%) Quarterly and annual IFRS reporting Package:

  • Prepare, review and supervise the preparation of the IFRS balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows, including the legal result with movements and segmentation as required by GAC. The reporting includes the financial notes section of the package and required board and audit committee reporting. This is done by working with TRS OLB, Hyperion (Essbase and Reports Workspace) and PeopleSoft (including nVision Reports). The job requires working closely with the Senior Financial Reporting Accountant.

 

(5%) Quarterly IFRS Forecast reporting Package:

  • Prepare, review and supervise the preparation of the IFRS balance sheet and income statement for the required forecast periods. The forecast financial results are reported in Tagetik in compliance with home office requirements; Plan data reported in compliance with home office requirements.

 

(20%) Annual and Quarterly Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA} reporting:

  • Responsible for coordinating and ensuring the accurate and timely compliance with the BMA's reporting requirements. The reporting includes the following: Audited IFRS financial statements; Statutory Solvency return including the audited statutory statements; and Capital and Solvency Return which includes the economic balance sheet in the BSCR return (Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement) and the quarterly BMA filing (QFR)

 

(10%) Quarterly management reporting:

  • Responsible on a quarterly basis for preparing the management proforma statements for the BMA statutory reporting and economic basis included in the proforma BSCR capital ratios. This information is used to manage the capital position of the entity; reporting to CIO; and reporting in compliance with cedant's requirements.

 

(5%) Audit Coordination:

  • Primary contact for managing the PWC information and data requests (PBC's) for quarterly PWC reviews of the Tagetik reporting package and annual audit of the IFRS and BMA statutory financial statements.

 

(5%) BMA consideration of new transactions:

  • Participate and provide guidance on new transactions and the impact to the BMA financial statements and BSCR as necessary.

 

(5%) IFRS and BMA standards:

  • Responsible for staying abreast of current IFRS issues, IFRS 17 implementation;BMA reporting and solvency issues

 

(15%) Special Projects for controller, treasurer or CFO related to HLRAB reporting:

  • Currently planned projects include the 1) implementation of IFRS 17 ; 2) Implementing the HLRAB consolidation in the Peoplesoft general ledger 3)Renovate the Core implementation in HLRAB financial statements

 

(10%) Supervision

  • Responsible for supervising and developing the supporting Senior Financial Reporting Accountant.

Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Degree in Accounting; 8+ years related experience and/or training in statutory and IFRS Insurance financial reporting, or equivalent combination of education and experience; insurance or reinsurance industry experience; public accounting/audit experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Project management skills
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written


Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Extensive experience with Excel
  • Experience with reporting/database software such as Hyperion (Essbase and Hyperion Reports) and Microstrategy
  • General Ledger (PeopleSoft or SAP)

Total Compensation Range (Inclusive of Base + Bonus) :

  • $127,500 - $172,500
