Reporting to the Finance Director, the Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for financial management and accounting for our UK operations. This includes preparing and managing statutory reporting for Bühler UK entities, coordinating with audit and internal stakeholders to ensure timely data availability for financial statements. This role involves collaborating closely with senior stakeholders, delivering exceptional customer service, and providing accounting guidance.

 

Tasks

 

The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for:

 

• Preparing and managing statutory reporting for Bühler UK entities, coordinating with audit and internal stakeholders to ensure that data required to produce financial statements is available on time.

• Managing the year-end and hard close audit process with external auditors, ensuring all issues raised are resolved in a timely manner.

• Leading and improving internal control processes and liaising with internal auditors.

• Dealing with monthly VAT returns for UK including PIVA, Deferment, Ireland, and Netherland.

• Preparing corporate tax reports, including quarterly instalment payments.

• Preparing transfer pricing reports, updating, and reviewing transfer prices regularly.

• Checking the monthly balance sheet and Profit & Loss statements prepared by Global Business Services.

• Presenting monthly accounts to senior management, highlighting any issues or concerns.

• Supporting the yearly pension audit for two Defined Benefit schemes.

• Assisting in preparing, validating, and expensing monthly payroll data into the general ledger.

• Reconciling payroll control accounts, including pension, and liaising with HR for special payroll topics, bonus calculations, and yearly salary budgets.

• Completing complex ad-hoc tasks with some guidance, as well as routine tasks within tight deadlines.

• Managing cash flow and making investment decisions.

• Managing the interface with the global service centre in Prague.

 

Required qualifications

 

• Ideally Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) or relevant experience.

• Demonstrable experience in financial accounting and reporting, managing statutory reporting and audit processes.

• Excellent Knowledge of UK tax regulations and compliance requirements, with proficiency in financial reporting, statutory compliance, and expertise in VAT returns.

• Experience with pension audits and defined benefits schemes.

• Proficiency in financial software and systems, including ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.

• Ability to analyse and interpret complex financial data with strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong time-management skills with the ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work independently as well as part of a team.

 

Preferred qualifications

 

• Comprehensive Knowledge of SAP.
